my grammy 2 cents...

so, i stayed up all night and watched the grammy's. i am pleased that it is back to it's reputable self. there were a couple years in there that it was just painful to watch. i loved almost every minute of last night's show. i'm not gonna lie-i am one of those who always dreamed of winning a grammy and i cry during great performances or when they win. music permeates my soul. it speaks volumes to me and tingles every fiber in my being. there you have it.

so i will randomly select performances and give my 2 cents. you are free to agree or disagree, that's why they are called opinions!

katy perry- i'll start off with the WORST performance of the night. it was made clear to me, once again, that she can't sing this song live to save her butt. if singing one monotone note during the chorus is talent to you, then i hope you loved it. every second was just painful to watch-the choreography, the cheesy back up dancers, her betty boop eyes. it was just so sad.

jennifer hudson- as a vocalist, i don't give props to many singers. i don't get chills from many singers. i still have goosebumps from her national anthem, and i knew she wouldn't disappoint last night. i was sobbing at the end of her song. she meant every word she was singing. she was amazing.

MIA, kanye, jay z, TI, lil wayne- first of all, i love me some MIA. she is original, unashamed, and out there!!!! i was a little disappointed in her outfit choice, since all the men were all done up in their suits. but that's her! and her outfit had both brian and i in stitches! seeing all the boys like that rhyming together had my hand slammin and head bobbin. and yes, i did get out of the couch to do so. i love collaborations, especially when big heads in hip hop work together. i was jealous of MIA, to be honest. i've always wanted to sing the hook....

justin, al green, and keith urban- seriously, that performance was sick. i loved every second of it! i am all about random collaborations as well!!!!! my boy justin never disappoints when he sings.

miley cyrus and taylor swift- they are in my "bleh" category. taylor can write some cute songs and she has a particular voice. but when she is live, that voice rarely hits the right notes. every time i see her live, i am disappointed. miley hit the song too hard. it didn't mesh well together. brian was cringing through out the performance. i see how the little ones like them, but it left a lot to be desired from me.

carrie underwood- damn. that's the first thing that comes to my mind. that girl can really sing. i loved it. i love her (and so does brian). hahaha. and those legs. geez! but what a great performance. yes, it made me cry. i'm telling you i am weird....

allison krauss and peter plant-good stuff. her voice is so dainty and so perfect for what she does. i have always enjoyed her. it was fun seeing t-bone burnett too. my brother in law justin was supposed to work with him on his next album...maybe next time!

justin and TI- i enjoyed it. justin works it. TI=eye candy.

lil wayne and robin thicke- ooooh, robin thicke! he could sing to me every night! LOVE his voice. oh just LOVE it. i didn't pay much attention to mr. wayne during that performance. i honestly couldn't understand one word he was saying.

kanye and estelle- first and foremost, i love this song more than chocolate most days. and that is saying a lot. hahaha. it's just a good song (to dance to particularly). hahaha. not sure about kanye's hair, it had me and brian giggling the entire time. estelle did her thang and i enjoyed it.

kenny chesney- i don't sweat him like everyone else. and don't get me started about my theory on him... but he did good. i like keith better :)

coldplay- they are one of my favorite bands ever. it's one of the few cd's i can listen to from start to finish-on all of their cd's. their music plays to my emotions. and i can't get enough. loved their performance. i remember seeing them at the grady cole center in charlotte, only 10 feet away from the front and center. ohhh, i love their music.

U2-what a way to kick off the show! chase was all about their performance! the song needs to grow on me just a tad (as all new songs do), but to still have the "it" factor after all those years is incredible.

stevie wonder and jonas brothers- well, the jonas brothers lucked out to collaborate with stevie, because he single-handedly saved those songs. the jonas brothers are cute and write catchy tunes. my kids love them and i am a sucker for pop music. but they can't hit their notes for anything. and they end every note as if they are gasping for air. but stevie, he's just insane. he makes me cry too. so gifted.

RADIOHEAD-i saved the best for last. that song with the USC marching band was...i just can't say it due to being too blunt. the band was invigorating-especially that one drummer working his twirls! but i had chills. i was dancing. radiohead does that to me. yeah, they are freakin weird. freakin awesome. i own and adore all of their cd's. they give me feelings i never thought i had when i listen to their stuff. they have a signature that can never be copied. CHEERS!!!!!!

so i will bless you with this performance (and i love gwynnie's wink to chris!):

JT and TI were my fav! LOVE MY JT! Cold Play was awesome...Kanye's hair, oh my, I think he was channeling Michael Jackson circa 1985. The whole red/silver and the gloves (though MJ only had the one). There were some good performances, but I wasn't as into it this year. Did you watch any preshow stuff? I think Ryan Seacrest was on something...probably whatever Whitney was on.

So, I agree with mostly everything you noted. I am just going to comment on a few.
Katy Perry- Can't stand her live.
Jennifer Hudson- Love her, love her strength, love her passion. She is a true artist in that she put her energy into her work, and it showed. God bless that girl!
The Rap Pack with MIA- Oh, you know I was groovin right along with you! LOVED it! Her outfit was a little out there, but how can I judge when she is getting ready to pop?? More power to you, and thanks for making me laugh.
Al/Keith/Boyz/JT- Did you know this was not planned for the show? Apparently, we would never had gotten to see this amazing performance if Chris Brown had not roughed up Riyanna.
Miley & Taylor- not fans of either, and all I wanted to do was knock both of them off their stools.
Carrie- I can say no more. She is my fave, and had me hooked from her 1st CD. She was rocking that dress!!!
Robin Thicke- delicious! (Lil Wayne not so much)
Jonas Brother/Stevie- Thank the good Lord for Mr. Wonder.
Coldplay- Amazing. And so happy they scored so many awards- much deserved!!!
Kanye/Estelle- Love her, love his music. Great collaboration.

Katy Perry makes me ill. Shock value is not talent. NEXT!

hahaha Please change your post to read "Allison Kraus and ROBERT Plant." He's kinda the rock godliest:) Idk who Peter Plant is. A Chia Pet, maybe?
