i am so tired!

so we went home this past weekend for a zillion reasons (brian's little brother had a daughter this week, i haven't met my sister michelle's son andrew yet, concert, bday party). it was nice, but a whirlwind as always. corban had hand, foot, mouth disease so he and brian stayed at brian's dad's house in waldorf, while the other kids and i stayed at my sister michelle's place about an hour away.

we got to waldorf about 9pm on friday night. my brother in law justin (melanie's husband and www.justin-jones.com) had a show in arlington that night. i had yet to attend a show of his and melanie was singing back-up, so i surprised them at the show (i went with my dad and monica). they didn't hit the stage until almost 11:30pm and i was ready for bed already! they played a phenomenal set! can i just tell you about his band---he is alternative country/folk---with his band of all these instruments: acoustic guitar, banjo, sax, trombone, back-up vocalist, bass, drummer, electric guitar, and keys. the stage was packed out!!! haha. the show sold out and had an awesome crowd. he had me come up and sing back up for seminole town with him (one of the tracks i recorded on his CD). it was pretty awesome. i am only used to singing in church and singing late night at a bar was completely fun. everyone loves you, you can't complain!

the show ended, we hung around for a little bit, and dad, monica and i got some grub at bob and edith's diner. as we were heading back to waldorf around 3:30 am or so, we noticed a ton of cop cars just a half mile past where we had to turn. we thought it was a sobriety check point and some cars were making u-turns. as i drove back to brian's dad's house, i passed by several ambulances and cops racing to the scene. i just knew something was really wrong. come to find out the next morning, it was the drag racing accident that killed 7 people that was all over national news. i just couldn't believe it. just a couple miles from my parent's house. it was a devastating shock to the community.

so i got to bed about 4am to wake up at 8am. go eat breakfast with brian's parents, get ready to go to michelle's and then chase falls into the pond in the backyard. oh joy! talk about me freaking out. he was fine and his leg just slipped in on the edge, but it was still enough to worry me to death. finally left for michelle's with chase and callie in tow. talked to cindy on the phone. she and brad were in town for his grandpa's funeral. my only regret this weekend is that i didn't get to see them.

had micah's bday party, ate lots of ledo's pizza, got my eyebrows waxed, ate made from scratch brownies, lalala. my parents and all of my sisters and kids stayed at michelle's house that night. we all went dancing at FLY in DC of course! my dad and brother in law jason built that club and are currently building a 2nd club for the same owners, so we were treated nice with a huge VIP table and free everything. not to mention, they spin the best music! it has been our first night out as sisters where no one has been pregnant for a really long time! it was fun--for the most part. got back in at 4am and was back up at 8am again. i just can't do it anymore. i'm too old.

went back down to brian's dads, hung out there for a little bit, and we all headed back to NC and got in about 10pm. i did absolutely nothing today. i didn't even get to take a nap. sheesh. even though our trips are so exhausting, i wouldn't trade them for anything. i miss my family and enjoy any time spent with them!
