lovin old friends

so i had a busy sunday. i sang at church and am still amazed at how curtis/benji does this EVERY sunday. those 3 services wipe me out! but it was an awesome time in the Lord, nonetheless. got home at 1:30pm, made lunch for the fam, and at 3 picked up my neighbor joe. we headed to halsey's house and she drove us down to charlotte to see the good charlotte show!!!!

brian and i lived in charlotte for the first couple years of our marriage. i have not been back down there in 4 years. it was a really nice treat to go down there. we met up with my best friend while down there, angela. she has a 7 month old daughter, aubrey, that i got to meet for the first time. it was so special. after getting lost for a little bit, we ended up eating at rockbottom brewery in uptown, one of my old faves.

at the end of dinner i got the text from joel saying what time they hit the stage and that he hooked us up with passes at the front. after all these years, he is still so kind to me. :) so we headed to the show, sold the tickets we bought since we had passes (and it was a sold out show, so we made somebody's day!). we saw the last few songs of metro station. their songs are pretty fun actually. they do that "shake shake shake shake shake it" song. and the one dude is miley cyrus's brother. hehe.

then good charlotte hit the stage. i have to admit i feel like a proud mama everytime i see them play. when i think back of how they started and where they used to play, it just cracks me up. joel's vocals were dead on and he has just grown so much over the years. they are still my favorite live band. they put on a flawless and fun show everytime. it was great. i think joe and jennifer were enjoying themselves quite a bit too!

after the show, we pushed our way through all the little girls who were trying to fight us to head backstage. we hung out around the busses to wait for the guys to change. we saw benj first and then joel. it was a great time to catch up with him. i was just so bummed that i didn't get to see paul or billy. they were all in a rush to get back to the hotel and pack so they could fly home for their day off. understandable!

after visiting, we decided to skip out on watching boys like girls perform and headed to the car. but one problem....jennifer's car was GONE. yep, towed. none of us ever experienced a towing situation before. so we called the number left on some trucks that were too big to tow (but had boots on them). we had to bring $120 in cash. so we took a cab with a mom and her daughter-all five of us. i was in the front seat-thank God! we hit every red light and then he went some back way and got us stuck behind a train for 10 minutes. it was dark and scary. all of us were thinking bone collector. we finally got there and jennifer was able to get her truck. so much for the money we got for the tickets!!!! hahaha.

we rallied for the 2 hour trip home and i got in about 1:30am. what a long day. but a fun one for sure!
