Rooms of HOPE

ok, i am starting to get PUMPED up!!!!!!!!!!! some of you have probably heard from me or have read in the bulletin at church about our rooms of HOPE. i feel that lately i have just been asking people for things...whether it be support for our trip to Africa or school supplies to take to Africa. but i am pretty shameless to ask when it comes time to help or serve others. :)

here is some of the message i have sent out to others to get the word out! check it out-be a part!!!!

How many of you have watched Extreme Makeover Home Edition and have wanted to be part of something so awesome?? We as a church now have that chance!!! I wanted to fill you in on our church's upcoming project with the Durham Rescue Mission- Rooms of HOPE. We have adopted a room at the Good Samaritan Inn and are responsible for giving it a cosmetic makeover and furnishing it. Kevin Caves is heading up the construction aspect and already has a team taking care of that before we, as the church, come in on May 10th to furnish and decorate it.

There are many ways you can participate as a small group or even as individuals.
Here is what we need:

1. Volunteers on May 10th.
We need people to help transport items to the DRM, people to assemble the furniture pieces, people to help decorate and make it presentable.

2. Furnishings/Decor
We have created a Target List. It works just like a registry. There, you will find everything we need to make this room livable for these women and children in need. Here is the link: http://www.target.com/lists/2D4KZILFP1923. Or you can go to Target and find the list on the computers at the store. We will be collecting items at the front of the church for the next 2 Sundays and at Encounter. If you purchase anything online, it will get shipped to my house for me to take to the mission. I have been informed many of the items are not available or backordered online-but these things ARE in the southpoint target store for sure.

3. Monetary Donations
The registry does not cover all the big furniture items. We are trying to find *some* second hand stuff, but would prefer to give this room a fresh start. And of course, we want the furniture and room to match :)

Here are the big items we would need to purchase:
*bunkbed
*2 twin mattresses (can be gently used donations)
*(2) 4 or 5 drawer chest-dressers-on registry
*comfortable sitting chair/rocking chair (already donated)
* baby crib and mattress (already donated)
*small desk and chair (tan in color)

thanks for listening :) contact me at brianandrissa@aol.com if you have any questions!
