my parents hung around on monday for a little while, so i was able to go to the DMV and finally get a license with my current address on it. it still had my charlotte address from almost 4 years ago! i went once before, but my SSN and name on the license did not match, so i had to wait several months until brian had a day off so i could sit at the SS office to get my name officially changed to my married name 6 YEARS LATER. i know--very sad. it's amazing the things you take for granted like errands you can't run when you have 3 small children with you all the time.
i just thought they would change my address and use my old pic. NOPE-i had to take a new one and wasn't prepared. so i look washed out, with one side of my hair curly and the other side limp. not so hot. boo.
i got home and wasn't feeling good at all-with chills and what i thought was a fever. i just wanted to SLEEP all day and all night. but i had a beauticontrol party for crystal, and it was TONS of fun. we had such a great time being pampered! thanks to you ladies who came on out! my neighbor came and brought me this awesome yellow purse from my neighbor who has her own purse company. i LOVE it! it is so me and the primary colors are hot this spring!
after hanging with crystal and her mom for a while, i finally crashed!
tuesday was slow-we just hung out at the house. brian came home from work and we went to golden corral for the first time since i started my weight loss journey in november. too much food as usual, and now that chase is 4, we have to pay for him! oh no!
while we were there, i saw a former student of mine, curtis. i recognized him right away-he was one of my faves. he was so grown up. you figure, i taught him 7 years ago. he was from my first class, my most memorable class. i taught at bethesda elementary, which was a title one school. i loved every second of it. my kids knew i loved them more than anything and they were great. curtis had a hard time with academics while in my class, so he shared with me tonight that he has really been struggling in school. he is almost 17 and in 9th grade. of course my heart went out to him--i could never stop caring for my kids. so i gave him my number if he ever needed tutoring or help. brian said high school was too advanced for me to help anyone! sadly, he might be right! hahaha.
we ran into him and his family again at the grocery store. there i saw his mom and chatted with her for a while. she always had a great heart and wanted her kids to do well. i hope i hear from them again.
i have found a few of my students from that particular class on myspace. one girl has had a baby and has dropped out of school. another girl had a baby, gave her up to her aunt to raise, and then the baby died in a car accident. one of my boy's myspace picture is of him holding guns, and he told me i was sexy. um yeah-all boys talk to their teachers like that! i wish i could take care of all of them and protect them from this crazy world. i hope god continues to put them in my life somehow. i miss them all and care deeply for them. they are always in my prayers......
on a lighter note, as we were walking around the grocery store, 2 men walked by waving at callie. she pointed right at them and yelled "YOUR FIRED!" with her speech impediment!!!! i just couldn't believe it! who is she, donald trump?? i think she got it from that ratatoille movie i have not seen but my parents let them watch numerous times while i was in california. thank goodness the gentlemen laughed. she is crazy!

4) Callie. Is. A. TRIP. !!
HILARIOUS!!! Callie is too much!!
OK...you know I LOVE the bag- we are too much alike. I just got a yellow one myself, which I was hoping would help bring Spring in a little sooner. Hasn't worked quite yet:) You need to hook a sista up with your neighbors' info!!!!
My heart aches for your prior students. It's so sad what is happening to that generation. We have had 24 high schoolers gunned down in Chicago so far in 2008. Pathetic. Hardly anything is done and it just tears me up!
