can i just tell you how wiped i am???? this weekend was CRAZY busy, but CRAZY fun. friday night we returned to our growing kids god's way class. i always love that class. it is so nice to have support and guidance on how to raise your kids. our particular group leaders are the schaad's. they are probably at the top of my list of admiration when it comes to parenting. i don't know if kelli realizes how much i have leeched onto her as a mentor over the past 3 years. i really look up to her and am so glad god put her in my life as a role model as i go through this journey of being a mom. so thanks, kelli and dave!
on saturday, we threw a baby shower for holly and cj at my house. it was so much fun to see all the people and celebrate the new life on the way. thanks to cari porterfield, holly and cj's moms, and sabrina and her awesome cupcakes for all their help pulling it off!! my parents arrived from MD during the shower--my kids were stoked!
we then headed to champps for cj's birthday dinner. good times! my lovely sister monica arrived at dinner from liberty. we came home and i told myself to go to bed early because we had an early morning ahead of us, but i took my dad and monica to the church so they could set up there guitars and the awesome cordless mic my dad bought me. uh oh, i have a lucky mic! does anyone have a bedazzler i can borrow??? hahaha.
i still didn't go to bed early-none of us did. we watched SNL and i was laughing my butt off. the sketch on the academy of excellence did me in, as well as the funhouse sketch of obama with jesse jackson and al sharpton. finally i went to bed at 1am and had to be up at 5:30 am. my kids decided NOT to sleep, which means i didn't get to. i was so exhausted.
we stopped by mcdonald's and got the worship team some grub and headed to the church! we had an exceptional practice, considering we didn't practice at all up until this point. can i just publicly brag about this team? not only are they exceptional musicians and techies, but they have hearts of worship. they are not just people who are musicians and feel that they might as well play at church. these guys feel called to worship and it's in everything they do. we all hunger for the holy spirit to show up everytime we lead-we want him to lead.
i was also thrilled to have my sister and dad play with us. i miss being with my family and worshiping with them (and i missed having my other sisters there too!). my grandma smith started a legacy of worship in her family-i have cousins, aunts, uncles who are all involved in worship to some capacity. so i take any chance i can get to lead with my family and what god has called us to do. so thanks monica and daddy for spending that gas money and time to help out!
if you were there, i hope you enjoyed the double electric guitars. it was SMOKIN. we all had a blast doing that evanescence song too. thanks, curtis and benji, for having us lead yesterday! i hope we did ok for it being our first sunday morning leading. my fave part was on "hosanna" and hearing the church sing it so loud and beautifully. i just had to smile because i know that's what we'll be doing in heaven--just singing his praise! it sounded good, church!
i respect those who serve all services every sunday. that is a LONG day. exhausted, we headed to tomato jakes for some lunch and back to the house so i could nap :) we later watched "i am legend". it was ok. off to bed!
oh and by the way, i am not pregnant. i was actually sad about it, tears and all. but it's probably a good thing since i no longer have maternity coverage on my insurance!
