i realize i am quite behind on my blogging! we've been crazy busy :)
we woke up on sunday morning to yet another glorious breakfast from lola carmen-bacon, eggs, pancakes, fried rice. yum! we got dressed and we all went to mass at 11am. it was so close to my aunt's house and it met in the gym of a brand new catholic school-mater dei. the church is building their building on the property right now. it is an awesome school! outdoor lockers, different buildings all over. it was just really nice.
mass was nice. i usually just partake in mass when i attend relative's weddings or funerals. my parents left the catholic church when i was five, but my sisters and i used to have a tradition of going every christmas eve with old friends. we've since had to stop since we've gotten married and have to share time with in-laws. oh well. but i do enjoy the formality from time to time. the level of respect is so high and i appreciate it. but of course we missed newhope! brian especially loved the mass with all of the filipinos-we both really enjoyed it.
after mass, we drove over to their new mall and had lunch at frida restaurant. it is an authentic mexican restaurant. the decor was so gorgeous, stylish, fun. the food was to die for. it was just so good and fresh, i have never had anything like it. i had a yummy shrimp burrito. the best part was when the chip guy spilled guacamole sauce in my aunt's hair-the owner brought us all a yummy mango sorbet shots! he was super nice. i highly recommend any frida restaurant (there are 3 on the west coast i believe).
after lunch, we stopped by the house, changed clothes. we all headed down to seaport village on the bay. it was perfect weather as it has been our entire trip! kites were flying, people from all walks of life all around, laughter, picnics, bright green grass, cool breeze, sunny skies, and mesmerizing water. we walked and walked and walked all around and made our way to the naval ship/museum over there. checked out some other boats and took a bike taxi back. we picked up some souvenirs for the kids (indian instruments of course!), we bought some shades, got ice cream, saw the wyland art museum, and headed to the car.
skyline from the island. we got home a little after 8pm and came home to a great dinner from we then drove to coronado island for the sunset. it was oh so gorgeous!!!!! we hung out there just enjoying the sites and everyone's company. we then checked out the evening san diegolola carmen-spare ribs, chicken, fresh avocados with sugar on top (filipino style!), rice, putu, and salad. it was a great way to end a very fun and very long day. you figure, we were out and all about on the go from 11-8. we literally crashed at like 9pm. we were wiped!

Oooh Frida restaurant! Like Frida Kahlo! I had to check their website and (phfew!) it looks like they chose Diego Rivera's artwork for the walls instead of hers... Good choice for those eating;)
Glad your trip was so much fun!
