day 6

it was time to say goodbye to LA. it was a sunny day, but not while driving around LA. the smog and traffic were just disgusting. now i am used to some crazy traffic being from DC, but every road we were on was bumper to bumper at noon. yuck!!!!! sadly, the sun shone brightly as soon as we were about 30 minutes outside the city on our way to VEGAS baby!!!!!!

we had the top down in our convertible and loved the 4 hour drive. neither brian nor i have been to vegas before, so this was gonna be fun. we had lunch at IHOP about an hour into our trip and enjoyed the scenery. watching it change from green mountains to brown desert was intriguing.

we got to vegas at about 5:30pm. we stayed at the cancun resort about a mile or so south of the strip. it is normally a time share kind of place, but we got a room there for a couple nights for a really good price. there were a couple conventions in town so everything on the strip was sold out. our place was really nice and huge with a kitchen, 2 baths, jacuzzi, balcony with an awesome view, the hugest pool i have ever seen, and other stuff. it was a very comfortable stay.

we waited forever to take the shuttle to the strip and we walked everywhere. and we walked, and walked, and walked. i was getting tired not having eaten since 1pm and it was almost 9pm....so my alter ego was coming out. i was grouchy like no one's business. poor brian. we ate an appetizer at some italian place and then cabbed it back to the resort. we then drove and got some popeye's for dinner and a bottle of wine to enjoy on our balcony. it was actually quite nice.
